Jonathan, known by many as Jip, is a specialist lighting cameraman who has worked on award winning natural history programmes. He specialises in macro and high-speed photography, this has enabled him to work on projects like Swarm – Natures incredible invasions and Smalltalk Diaries', 2 x Panda winner at Wildscreen. Prior to focusing on camerawork Jip was an editor working on an array of productions. He loves a challenge and is always looking to further his knowledge of new technology and filming techniques.
Jonathan was principal cinematographer on the first 2 episodes of Hidden Kingdoms as well as filming the 40 minute 3D IMAX feature which is to be screened soon. It was shot on Red Epic using super slow motion techniques. In addition, Jonathan specialises in macro filming and had to engineer various miniature lenses to achieve the intimate angles that have enhanced many of the sequences within the programme. He filmed in various locations across the world including Canada, Norway and Kenya. Jonathan filmed many of the graphic shots within the programme so that the images could be composited to create the final cinematic look. |
